Robert was born August 25, 1936 in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Charles Hanson and Myrtle Clementson Hanson. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Stout where he received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Robert was employed with Becton Dickinson where he was Director of Commercial Arts retiring with over 26 years of service. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Schulenburg Hanson; son, Steven Hanson and his wife, Tammy of Bonlee, NC; daughter, Kristine Goettge and her husband, Robert of Wendell; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, 5010 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
