Sawyer Welch Sharp

Sawyer Welch Sharp earned his Angel wings October 14, 2012 surrounded by family following a valiant battle with Brain Cancer. Sawyer was born January 27, 2004 in Lexington, KY, to loving and devoted parents Kelley Lynn Sharp and Steven Amory MacNeilage.

Sawyer grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina with an undeniable gift of creating smiles and laughter everywhere he went. Though Sawyers life would seem short to many, he lived with a spirit and personality that exceeded what many wouldn’t dare to achieve. Even at his young age, he possessed a strength, bravery, and wittiness that reached out and taught a lesson of character to all who was blessed to know him. His warm smile lit up the entire Atlanta Braves Stadium, his contagious laugh brought the Magic to Disney World, his excitement put the Great in the Great Wolf Lodge, and his fun loving character was the best prize won at the NC State Fair. With his courage and excitement for life, he showed each day is a blessing and an opportunity to make everlasting memories.

Sawyers passing is a celebration of a life that will forever impact lives, and one that will remain in our hearts. His gentle spirit will echo and continue to reach out to his countless loved ones.

He is survived by his loving parents Kelley Lynn Sharp and Steven Amory MacNeilage, lifelong best friend David Charles Jacobs, maternal grandparents Ron and Beverly Sharp, paternal grandmother Pat MacNeilage; Uncles and Aunts Thad and Danielle Sharp, Graham and Diane Burgess, Peter Cnossen and Karen Bullock-Cnossen, Susan MacNeilage, and Scott and Denise Ritter. He also is survived by devoted cousins Morgan Sharp, Nina Sharp, Dylan Burgess, Bransen Burgess, Emily Clark, Nolan Bullock, Jacob Bullock, Kyle Bullock, Ethan Cnossen, Taylor Cnossen, Casey MacNeilage, Erica Ritter, and Ava Ritter, among countless other family members and friends who loved him dearly.

A Memorial service was held at Crossroads Fellowship, 2721 E. Millbrook Road, at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
