

Sheridan Cleo Morris, Jr. was born November 19, 1924 in Charlotte, NC and departed this life on February 18, 2016. He was the only child of Sheridan C. Morris, Sr. and Emma Pou Morris. He served in the US Navy from July 1943 to September 1946 attaining the rank of Lieutenant.
Sheridan graduated from Emory University and Woodrow Wilson College of Law, both in Atlanta, GA where he resided before moving to Raleigh in 1966. He served as Head of the Raleigh Office of the Intelligence Division (now known as the Criminal Investigation Division) of the Internal Revenue Service until 1974. Following this career, he served as a Special Agent of the N. C. State Bureau of Investigation for eleven years before his retirement in 1986.
He will be missed by many including a family that loved him for his generous spirit, integrity and unwavering loyalty. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Frank Barry and Carla Anderson Morris, James Bruce and Gladys Salvatierra Morris, and Richard Scott and Laura Clements Morris. He was also well loved by his grandchildren: Jonathan, Kristin, Elizabeth, Lauren, Jared, Cole, Jesse, and Chris. He also leaves behind a great granddaughter, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Bell Morris and their first son, Sheridan Cleo Morris, III.
A memorial service will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 3, 2016. The family will receive friends and relatives after the service. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Bedford, VA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Transitions Hospice of Wake County or the East Main United Methodist Church in Bedford, Virginia.
