Susan Eileen McCandless Holley

York, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday February 23, 2017 at Rex Hospital. She

was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, nana, coworker, and friend.

Affectionately known as “Sue” to all her friends and family. She dedicated her life to the Nursing

profession, and retired from Rex Rehabilitation Center in 2015. She compassionately cared for

everyone around her. She never met a stranger. Sue was a lover of books, people, and most of

all the Lord. She served him faithfully by loving others and putting their needs above her own.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marjorie McCandless. She leaves behind

her husband of 42 years, Daniel Holley; a brother, Theodore McCandless; two daughters, Lisa

Holley and Kimberly Holley; a step-daughter Robin (Dolan) Shoaf; a step-son Daniel (Sherri)

Holley Jr.; six grandchildren, Amber Holley, Matthew McAndrew, Scott Porter Jr.,Dustin Holley,

Ava Holley and Carson Holley; and several great-grandchildren. As well as two nephews,

Zachary and Alexander McCandless.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, March 2nd, 2017 at First Alliance

Church, 4400 Buffaloe Rd, Raleigh NC, 27616. Following the service the family will receive

guests. In lieu of flowers, financial contributions toward expenses may be sent to the Holley

family at 3700 Ann Arbor Court, Raleigh, NC 27604.
