Jean graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1943 and married her high school sweetheart Thomas Manor who was then serving with the U.S. Army in Europe. They were married for 71 years. After WWII, they both graduated from East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma. Jean then pursued her teaching career in Oklahoma, Texas, and for 20 plus years with the Denver Public Schools, where they lived for 45 years.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, her brother Robert Byrd, her parents, and a daughter Marilyn Ann White.
Surviving is her daughter Sue Manor Gawf and her husband Edward, two grandchildren, Jennifer Brauer and Brian Gawf, her great-grandchildren, Brittany, Sarah, Zachary Brauer, and Thomas Gawf, two nieces, Teresa Mitchell and her husband, Mellissa Briggs, and her husband, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
She will be buried beside her husband and family in Oklahoma.
