Bonnie attended Corona High School. On October 5, 1946, Bonnie married a handsome Navy man, the love of her life, Bob Compton, and they were married for over 70 years. Bonnie worked as a telephone operator in Pasadena, and took loving care of her family throughout her life.
Family meant the world to Bonnie. She was very proud of her four children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There was nothing she liked better than to be with her family for visits, meals, and games. The family enjoyed camping on Shasta Lake, going to the coast by Patrick’s Point, and spending time in the mountains at their second home in Westwood. Bonnie was a superb bridge player and enjoyed playing weekly. On occasion, Bonnie liked to go to the casino with Jane, where she was exceptionally lucky. She made the best seedless blackberry jam in the world. Bonnie loved flowers, the desert, yard sales and antiques, decorating, and reading.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Bob Compton, and four children, Brenda (Richard), Robert (Becky), Douglas (Nancy) and Scott. She also leaves behind three grandchildren; Gene (Jessica), Emily (John) and Patrick; four great-grandchildren, Julianne, Taylea, Evelyn, and Henry; her sister, Virginia (Howard); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bonnie requested a private burial and funeral. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness; especially Bobbi, Juanita and Sarah, Dignity Home Health, and the staff at St. Elizabeth’s.
Arrangements were provided by Hoyt-Cole Chapel of the Flowers. Internment is at the Northern California Veteran’s Cemetery in Igo. Online condolences can be left on http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Bonnie-Compton&lc=6798&pid=182942069&mid=7191080 .
