Born on June 21, 1937, in Sheridan, Arkansas, Ray came to California in the 1950s by train with his father and mother, Arthur and Alma Ault, seeking work opportunities and a better life. They found work in the Burney area but eventually laid down roots in Red Bluff.
While attending Red Bluff Union High School, he met the love of his life, Jary Ann Gilliland, and married her. After graduating from High School, Ray served honorably in the National Guard and spent much of his life in service to others-- as a peace officer in Red Bluff, the owner of his own trucking company, and eventually a truck driver with Aggressive Transport. Over the years, he held many jobs--often two or more at a time--always working hard to support his beloved family.
Ray shared 68 devoted years with his wife, Jary Ann Ault. Together, they raised three sons:
Raymond L. Ault, Michael R. Ault, and Gary D. Ault. His family was the center of his world, and he gave them a life filled with love, support, and unwavering strength.
Known for his kindness and willingness to help a friend in need, Ray touched many lives. He was a proud and active member of the Red Bluff Elks Lodge for over 50 years and found great joy in the outdoors--especially hunting, fishing and camping trips with his family and friends.
Ray is survived by his wife, Jary Ann; his three sons; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss his steady presence and warm heart.
Ray Ault lived a life of integrity, love, and service. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the many people he helped along the way.
