November 25, 1932 to January 31, 2026
Teresa was born in Templeton, Iowa, the 7th of 8 children to Rose and George Schumacher. The family moved to Tehama County in 1936 and Teresa grew up on a ranch of orchards, cows, and chickens. She graduated from Red Bluff High School and was named Olive Queen at the Corning Olive Festival. She married Robert (Bud) C. Williams in 1952 and they raised 5 children: Kathy, Walter (Elizabeth), Brian (Tammy), Robert (Julie), and Cheryl. They moved to Alaska in 1971 for career opportunities, returning to California in 1978. Bud and Teresa were married for 39 years before Bud passed in 1991. Their son Walter passed away in 2024.
After reconnecting at a high school reunion, Teresa started a new chapter in her life, marrying Gary Hendricks in 2001. She joined Gary’s large family including his grown children Paulette, Gary Wade (Dena), Janette, and Wes (Grace). They were together for 25 years until Gary’s death on January 7th, 2026. They loved raising chickens and tomatoes, helping each other daily during their final years.
Teresa’s career began as a secretary at Antelope School and she retired as the Administrative Assistant to the Tehama County Superintendent of Schools. She enjoyed all of her families, especially her grandchildren, and many life long friends. Always ready for something new, Teresa ice skated on frozen ponds and cross country skied out her back door in Alaska, learned to downhill ski in her 50’s, and took up tap dance in her 60’s with her sister Alice. She was an active supporter of the Sacred Heart Church.
A Rosary will be held at 6 pm at the Sacred Heart Church on Feb 19th. Graveside services will be Friday, February 20th at 11 am at Oak Hill Cemetery and luncheon following at the Parish Hall.
