

Born on March 3, 1954 to Robert and Teresa Williams. Walt graduated from Red Bluff High School in l972. He was an active student and enjoyed being on the football team. After graduation, Walt moved to Alaska but decided the cold and dark was not for him. He returned to California and began a long career of community service as a first responder. Walt worked at Cal Fire for 34 years rising through the ranks from Engineer to Fire Captain and eventually Battalion Chief. Walt worked at many stations in Shasta, Butte and Tehama County fighting fires and responding to emergencies throughout the state. He retired in 2007 as Division Chief at Ishi Conservation Camp.
Walt will be remembered for his dedication to the Antelope Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief after retirement. He continued to help others as a Reserve Officer for the Red Bluff Police Department and later as a Reserve Sheriff Deputy for the Tehama County Sheriff's Office. He served on the board for the Tehama County Resource Conservation District.
Walt with his strong faith in God, was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He sang in the Choir, was a member of the
Men of Sacred Heart, and a member of The Knights Of Columbus. Walt could often be found volunteering at local Charitable events such as the pancake breakfast.
Walt met the love of his life Elizabeth Tatro in 1977. They married two years later and shared over 45 years of marriage. Walt and
Elizabeth raised three daughters, Cassandra, Jennifer, and Josephine. The family enjoyed camping trips to the coast, cutting the annual Christmas tree in the Lassen National Forest, and many gatherings with their large extended families. Walt was always willing to lend a hand and could be counted on to be there for his friends and family. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed many angling trip to Canada and annual hunting trips to Nevada, Idaho, and Wyoming with good friends.
Walt is survived by his wife Elizabeth; daughters Cassandra, Jennifer, Josephine and son-in-law Jonathan; granddaughter Meridia; mother Teresa; and siblings Kathryn, Brian, Robert and Cheryl. Walt will be missed by all including his beloved dog Maxx.
A Rosary will be held Thursday January 23 at 6:30 pm at Sacred Heart Church in Red Bluff. Graveside services on January 24 at 10 am at St Mary's Cemetery. Celebration of Life following at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall on Monroe St in Red Bluff.
