Beulah Mae (Criss) Spaulding passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 7, 2019 at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills, CA.
Graveside services will be held September 27th at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff, CA with Reverend Bucky Buchanan officiating. A celebration of life will be held October 12th at 2 p.m. at the Lions Hall in McArthur, CA.
Beulah was born October 11, 1925 near Lookout, CA to Owen Criss and Carrie Potter Criss. She graduated from Adin High School in 1943 and attended junior college in Sacramento. Beulah married Pete Smelcer, a native of Adin, on August 31, 1946. They lived in Adin, where Beulah raised four children and later worked at Chace’s General Merchandise until she moved to Napa in 1976.
On December 31, 1975, Beulah married Tom Spaulding in Red Bluff, CA. They made their home in Napa until 1983 when they retired to Mineral, CA near Mt. Lassen. After Tom passed away in 1992, Beulah lived in Redding until 2012, when she entered the long term care facility at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills.
Beulah is survived by her children Sharon McCulley of Burney, Gary Smelcer of Cottonwood, John Smelcer of Millville, and Annette Convy of Seattle, WA , and by stepchildren Katie Keith of Searcy, AR, Jacky Spaulding of Redding, and Tom Spaulding, Jr. of Redding. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Beulah was preceded in death by her sister Nelda Connolly, and brothers Harold Criss and Lloyd Criss.
