Curtis Richard Whitney, son of Floyd and Irma (Askerman) Whitney was born on May 25, 1938 in Glasgow, Montana. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Whitney on February 23, 1958 in Grand Rapids, North Dakota.
Curtis received his high school certificate from the state of North Dakota on May 25, 1959. He served as an Aviation Electrician Petty Officer Third Class in the U.S. Navy on the Midway and multiple other vessels before his honorable discharge in May 1959. He remained in the Navy Reserves until May 1963. Curtis attended classes at Boeing, Douglas Aircraft and Continental Airlines where he held a FFA Airframe and Power Plant license. Curtis became an aircraft Technician in May 1960 and worked his way up to Instructor of Maintenance, Supervisor of Maintenance Control, Shift Manager of Technical Operations and Senior Director before retiring in April 2003. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, boating and spending time with his family.
Curtis passed away on December 31, 2021 at Serenity Gardens in Redding, California. He was 83 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; children, Roger (Jill) Whitney, Pam Whitney and Ron (Jill) Whitney; siblings, Patrick Wieck and Sam Whitney; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents.
A chapel service will be held in his honor at Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, California on Thursday January 20, 2022 at 12:30p.m.
