1935 - 2014
Donna Carole Johnson went home to the Lord on June 26, 2014 at the age of 78 surrounded by loved ones.
She was born October 22, 1935 in Willows, CA to Donald F. Nolan (deceased) and Theodora Valentine Biggs (deceased). She resided most of her life in Shasta County and lived in Shasta Lake City, CA until moving to Lavender Hills Assisted Living in August 2013. Before retiring in 1995, she worked at Project City School in the Gateway Unified School District as an office clerk/secretary for 21 years.
As a faithful and humble servant of the Lord, she always had a way to make people smile. No one ever knew if she had a problem or a bad day. She was always so positive and exuded her love for the Lord, for her family and church family, who were everything to her. As her best friend put it, she was such a "Social Butterfly". She would greet everyone with a smile and welcoming hand.
She was a member of Crosspointe Community Church (formerly North Valley Baptist) for 39 years and served as a children's Sunday school teacher for 28 years. She always helped with Vacation Bible School and never missed a year. She was trying to get better to help out one more time. She was also dedicated to her Friday morning breakfast group and loved the time spent with her friends. You could not keep her away if there was a church function to attend. She also loved taking care of the elderly who needed rides to appointments, church or who just needed an encouraging visit.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce D. Johnson, only son Brett Huff, sisters Jackie Stewart (Graeme) and Freddie Pudliner.
She is survived by her brother-in-law Mike Pudliner of Anderson, nieces Kristine Burton (Steve) of Redding, Cindy Arredondo (Ted) of Roseville, Carol McPeters of Florida, and nephew Don Stewart (Vicki) of Florida; as well as step-sons Gene Johnson of Oregon, and Dale Johnson of Idaho. She also leaves behind nine beautiful grandchildren: Nate Burton, Alex and Savanna Arredondo, Hayleigh, Lauren, Evan, and Katie Johnson, and Geoffrey and Erik Johnson, whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in her name to The House of Hope (Redding) or KVIP (Redding).
Visitation will be held tomorrow, Thursday July 10, 2014 from 2pm to 6pm at McDonald's Chapel in Redding, CA.
Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Crosspointe Community Church in Redding (formerly North Valley Baptist).
Arrangements under the direction of McDonald's Chapel, Redding, CA.
