Dwayne Evans was born on July 31, 1952 to loving parents Dorothy and Gene Evans. He grew up in Redding, Ben Lomond, and Dunsmuir. He obtained a Bachelor of Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1976. Shortly after his college graduation he married Carol Overly. They resided in Redding for 35 of their 38 years of marriage. Dwayne opened his architectural office in 1983. He and Carol raised three children, Amber, Katie and Jefferson.
Dwayne was a member of Redding Neighborhood Church. He was a discussion leader for Bible Study Fellowship for several years and had a passion for in-depth Bible study. His other passions were canoeing, motorcycle riding, traveling in his RV, hunting, gun-smithing and old cars. He was known for his witty puns.
Dwayne passed away on July 18, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a short and courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, and their children Amber Yui (husband Leo and children Aya and Kai), Katie King (husband Aaron), and Jefferson (wife Michelle), as well as his parents, Dorothy and Gene Evans, and sister Vickie Parker (husband Roy).
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Neighborhood Church of Redding.
