Dear Carol,
My name is Mark Lafferty and I live in Durango, Colorado.  You don't know me, but Dwayne and I were good buddies when he and his family lived in Ben Lomond.  I have very fond memories of the many, many hours we spent together shooting our shotguns and riding our Honda trail bikes, and was shocked and saddened to just hear of his passing.  But the good news is that - as you know - Dwayne is in paradise with  His Lord and Savior, and I know we both look forward to one day joining him there.  In the mean time, my heart goes out to you and your children.

I just heard about Dwayne's passing.  I had the privilege of working for Dwayne as a structural engineer for many years.  He was always a pleasure to work with.  We did a lot of projects in Susanville.  I always enjoyed his company and enjoyed most when we would talk about our families.  He will be missed.  I imagine he is out canoeing on the other side.  To his family- God be with you.  Even though I don't know you I have heard Dwayne talk about you many times.  I believe families can be together in Heaven and know that you can be with Dwayne again.  He is a great guy!

I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with and know Dwayne.  He had his priorities straight which made him a good husband, a good father and a good architect.  I will miss him. To Carol and his children I can only say - I know from the way Dwayne conducted his life he surely is in good hands and may the void left by his loss be filled by the strength of your family and faith.

My husband and I just returned from the coast and heard the very sad news about your loss.  Although I did not know your husband, Carol, you often talked about your beautiful family and loving husband when I attended BSF.  You were my wonderful small group leader and a sweet friend a few years ago.  My heart and prayers go out to you now and in the months to come.  I'm praying for your healing, comfort and strength to endure on your knew path in life.  I hope you will find comfort, as you are surrounded by your family and friends.

We were deeply saddened by hearing the news of Dwayne's passing.  Twenty-one years ago when we first moved to Redding, your wonderful family welcomed us into the Old Shasta community.  Dwayne always had a smile on his face at the top of the driveway when we dropped Megan off to visit Amber - such a positive person.  We are thinking of you all as you deal with such a great loss.  His light will shine on in all of you.

Dear Carol and and all of the Evans family,
I just heard from an SLV classmate of Dwayne's death...Words are inadequate to say how much I loved the "coincidence" (which we know was much more than that!) of getting to know all of you and getting reacquainted with Dwayne 33 years after he left the San Lorenzo Valley.  Knowing of his excellent character,  and having that chance to be with you and watching the way the two of you interacted with each other and with Amber gave me such peace of mind when our daughters became roommates and friends at Cal Poly.
  Praying with you all now in this time of great loss, and recognizing that Dwayne is now in the presence of the Lord he loves,

Gene, Dorothy and family, I am very sorry for your loss. Haven't been touch for many months. But just know my thoughts are with you at this time.

I was very sad to hear that Dwayne had passed. I worked for Dwayne in his architectural firm for about five years. He was by far the best employer I have ever had and I learned a lot from him during that time. A gentleman always. A good teacher and mentor as well. Regretfully I will not be able to attend the services on Monday as I am working out of town. I tried real hard to cancel a reschedule my work schedule so that I could be there, I will however be thinking of Dwayne and praying for peace for Carol, his children and the rest of the family during this difficult time. I am deeply saddened for your loss. Dwayne was one of the good guys!!!

No matter the circumstance he was a man of integrity and honesty, that is a part of him that I remember so well.  Recently I was asked; who was a significant mentor in my life and I had to answer Dwayne Evans which is a huge credit to him and you both.  Our sincere sympathies,

Tom & I wish we could have taken Dwayne on 1 more paddle. We remember fun times together, including finding Dwayne on Whiskeytown lake when we thought we were the only ones who went there to see the full moon. We dedicated our canoe ride on Lake Tahoe to Dwayne this week.

Carol, I'm so shocked and so very sorry. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dad, you were such a good, kind, and sweet man. You were the best Father, husband, supporter, provider, and friend. You will be forever loved and so dearly missed. I'm honored and blessed to be able to have you in my life as my Father. You will always be my number 1 fan, my role model, and my hero. Life will never be the same without you. You taught and raised me right and to always be the best man that I can be. You were always positive, happy, hilarious, and always looked at everything in life the best way possible. I now know that you no longer have to suffer and are no longer in pain, as you are in Heaven always looking down on me, and the rest of our family. I cannot even come close to thanking you for everything you have done for me Father, but for what it's worth, Thank You. I know for a fact, I would not be the man that I am today if it wasn't for you, nor would I be where I am today cause of you and from your love, support, and everything you have said and done for me. I love and miss you so much already Dad. I will see you again, someday in Heaven.

Carol, I just wanted to add Rich's and my names to your many friends who are thinking of you and the rest of your family during this difficult time.  Your post on Facebook was so touching.  We'll be talking with you soon and are looking forward to spending some time with you.  Hopefully you know that you can call on us for anything at all.
