Flora June Carlson passed away at the age of 82 in Redding, California.
Flora was a resident of Redding Copperridge Estates. The family wishes to express their thanks to the entire staff for the excellent care she received during her two month stay. She was surrounded by her family, the afternoon she left us.
Flora was born June 25, 1930 in Westwood, California. Flora had a twin brother Floyd Cooper, now deceased.
Flora was married in Westwood, California on February 14, 1953. Her husband of 32 years, Walter Carlson served in the Korean War. Walter still resides in Redding, California.
Flora moved to Redding in 1958 and stayed until her death.
She leaves behind a son Greg of Redding, daughter Theresa Carlson of Anderson, a son who she now smiles upon with our Lord and Savior in Heaven, Tim. Grandchildren, Michelle Carlson of Redding, Kayla Morgan of Redding, Kindal, Kaitlynn of Portland, Oregon and Brandon Carlson of Anderson, three great grandchildren, Scarlet May, Katie and Jessica, extended family including nieces, nephews and cousins.
Flora worked for Pacific Bell Telephone for 10 years as an Operator. During this period she attended Shasta College at nights. She completed school with a degree in Insurance Billing. Her next 33 years she worked at Mercy Hospital in the Business Office. She retired in 2002.
She enjoyed her retirement years as a member of the Red Hats. Flora made friends easily and enjoyed living. Her family was very important to her.
Prior to coming to Redding from Westwood, Flora growing up as a girl was an expert ice-skater and roller skater.
She was a Lady through and through.
She really enjoyed all auto biographies of movie stars past and present. At her Redding home as a newlywed she started her large bell collection.
She will be truly missed. Over the years many friends have graced her doorstep on various holidays, seen her wide smile and heard her laugh. That is a chapter in many of our lives we are sad to see end.
We all, related or not, are touched and blessed to have known Flora June Carlson.
Following the services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church there will be a burial at Anderson District Cemetery.
jA reception will follow at the Martha's Ministries House (First house to left before Catholic Church).
The family requests donations be made to St. Judes Hospitals Inc.
