

Frances “Fran” A. Fritz, 88, peacefully passed away on November 28, 2021 at her home in Redding, CA. She was born on August 13, 1933 in Indianapolis, IN to William F. and Janet (Stone) Shotts. Fran was the beloved wife and best friend of her husband of 48 years, the late James F. Fritz.
Frances led a full life caring for her family and working full-time at Oakland University in Rochester, MI. After retirement, Jim and Fran moved to Ocala, Florida in 1987 into a subdivision known as Saddle Brook (later changed to Saddle Oak). Retirement did not slow the couple down, they joined “Project ‘PUP’” (Pets Uplifting People) and enjoyed 17 years volunteering in nursing homes assisting with events for the residents. Fran had many interests including sharing her crafting skills with others from creating crocheted blankets for nursing home residents, to making blankets, needlepoints, scrapbooks, and many other items for family and friends, and later in life began to research her genealogy. Fran was also an active member of her community, using her writing talent for community newsletters, serving on the neighborhood bereavement committee, and assisting with various other events.
She is survived by 6 children, Gena (Robert) Miller, Melissa (the late Samih) Ksar, James (Bonnie) Fritz Jr., Thomas (Karen) Powers, Tamara (Robert) Warren, and Brenda (Dennis) Fritz-Farr, 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters Glenna (Mike) Warwick and Janis (Roger) Day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Marjorie Baker, brother William F. Shotts II, son-in-law Samih Ksar, and grandson, Daniel Day.
Fran was loved by many for her caring and kindness to others. She will be greatly missed. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 8:30am February 12, 2022 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church Ocala, 6455 SW State Road 200, Ocala, FL and a 10:00am interment time at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 S. Pine Ave., Ocala, FL.
