1/19/1994 to 11/12/2013
James “Travis” McHone passed away tragically last Tuesday evening in Red Bluff, CA at the young age of 19. He was born in El Centro, CA to James and Shirley McHone on January 19, 1994. Travis is survived by his parents Jim and Shirley of Imperial, CA; his sister, Gina Miller of El Cajon, CA and his brother, Jesse Gonzalez of Portland, OR.
Travis, as he wished to be called, suffered from a genetic disorder called Prader-Willi Syndrome. This is a very debilitating disorder, but did not stop Travis from being a loving, generous son, brother and friend; in fact his dad was his best friend. Travis loved his family, friends, angels, gaming, swimming and animals; and he especially believed in God. He would ask his mother about Heaven and most importantly if he would ever get hungry in Heaven. Travis loved it when his cat, Clifford would crawl up and sleep on his belly. He liked to curl up in his favorite blankets as they comforted him. And he always had a smile for anyone who needed one.
Travis’ brother and sister remember how incredibly honest he was. They also recall how Travis would look someone straight in the eye when conversing and he would ask a lot of questions. They felt that they both learned many things from their brother; things they may never have known if not for him. His entire family believed they learned tolerance and patience from Travis’ own acts of kindness due to his innocent spirit.
A private visitation and burial will commence at McDonald’s Chapel and Redding Memorial Park. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association at http://www.pwsausa.org/. Please sign Travis’ guest book at www.mcdonaldschapel.com.
