Janice Ione Jensen- McGaughey

Janice Jensen-McGaughey, 84, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017. She was born April 24, 1933 in Mondamin, Iowa to Ethel and Howard Swaney.

She and her husband, Dawain Jensen, moved to Redding in 1963, where they opened the Martha Washington Ice Cream and Soda Shop.

Jan enjoyed spending summers in their RV at Redwood Trails on the coast, square dancing with Dawain and hosting family gatherings during the holidays.

After Dawain's death Jan married Mike McGaughey. They enjoyed their friends, teaching at their church, and a close relationship with God and their church.

During the past year Jan was able to enjoy her friends and family member's visits, telephone calls, keeping up with the kids on FaceBook, FaceTime with the grandkids and reading her Bible – from cover to cover.

She is survived by her brother, Denny, four sisters, Pat, Mary, Judy and Linda, her children, Debbie Harrison (Randy), Randy Jensen (Denise), Pam Sullivan, Bruce Jensen (Susie); 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 5th at 11:00 a.m. at McDonald's Chapel with a reception to follow at Shasta Baptist Church on Westside Road in Redding, CA. Arrangements under the direction of McDonald's Chapel, Redding, CA.
