

Jean Chase1931 - 2015On January 6, 2015 Jean Laverne (Collins) Chase took her peaceful journey to the other side with her loved ones at her side. She was 83.Jean was born December 17, 1931 and grew up in Blue Lake, CA. Her family was in the timber industry and they lived and worked between Ukiah and Orleans, CA. She attended Arcata High and eventually graduated from Hoopa High School in 1949. She resided in Salyer, CA, with her late husband Bill Chase, building a new home on Salyer Heights and raising 5 children. Jean worked for over 20 years in the Salyer Plywood Plant. She later worked in the mill yard as a log scalers assistant. Eventually they moved to the Redding area where she spent the last 20 years of her life.Jean always loved the Niners and Giants. She loved boating and camping at Trinity Lake. She also loved having a nice car with plenty of horsepower. Jean was a very ambitious person and always had some sort of project going on. She loved her dog (George) and shopping. Her favorite store was Macy's of course. She loved having family dinners and playing cards.Special thanks to Christopher Wisinger for being there as Jean's caregiver. Jean thought the world of him and we can't thank him enough. She is survived by her children Evelyn Cahill and husband Pete of Las Vegas, Charlie Jurin and wife Jodi of Palo Cedro, Renee Pruett of Redding and Kathy Chase of Weaverville. Grandchildren Renee, Sara, Shawn, Cori, Shawna, Aaron, Lisa, Thomas, Leslie, Brent and Miquell. 27 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.She was preceded in death by husband Bill Chase, father Frank Collins, mother Mable (Ward) Collins, son Michael Dayre Jurin, sister Betty (Collins) McCurdy and brother Doug Collins. Funeral will be held January 16, 2015 at McDonald's Chapel, Redding Memorial Park 1275 Continental Street, Redding, CA at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Haven Humane Society.
