passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Judy was passionate about cooking, gardening, thrifting and spending time with her family- she
was especially proud to hold the title of “Nani”. She was married to Todd for 36 remarkable
years and they had a great love that emanated thoughtfulness, patience and joy that will be
unmatched. She and Todd owned a Jack Russell, Baxter and two German Shepherds, Ginger
and Coco, who never left her side. One of Judy’s strengths was building relationships with
others which allowed her to be a leader in her work in procurement and purchasing for 25 years.
After her first career, Judy made a courageous decision to attend college and she earned her
Culinary Arts Degree from Joliet Junior College. She made sure to pass her love and talent for
cooking along to her daughters. Judy also had a joy for thrifting and finding the beauty in
ordinary things- which she also loved to share with her daughters.
Judy is survived by her husband and love of her life, Todd Hartman; her daughters and their
husbands, Cheyenne and Ben Mizenko and Sydney and Dalton Petersen; and grandchildren
Brealynn and Brooks Petersen. Judy is also survived by her sisters, Sam Cromwell (Brandi
Arsenau) and Amelia Owens, Brother Randy and Linda Hartman (Taylor and Brandon),
Nephews AJ and Meagan Cody (Kayden, Kendra, Karmen, Lorcan), Mike and Renee Rose
(Dylan and Sadie), and In-Laws Jerry and Margaret Cooper.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Owens and father, Franklin Owens.
Judy wishes were for her family to celebrate her life privately together and no public service will
be held.
“Grief and love are conjoined, you don't get one without the other. All I can do is love her, and
love the world, emulate her by living with daring and spirit and joy.” -Jandy Nelson
