Sharon Dungan, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and love. Sharon was born on March 17, 1949, in Redding, California, and she moved on to her heavenly home on September 28, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.
In her early years, Sharon called Fall River Mills and Old Shasta, California, her home. She was the loving mother of four children: Joy, Melinda, James, and Sheryl. Her life was filled with love and devotion to her family. In 1966, Sharon married the love of her life, Jim Dungan, and together they shared 26 years of marriage. Sharon embraced the role of homemaker with a passion, taking immense joy in caring for her children and creating a warm and loving home for her family.
One of the cherished traditions of the Dungan family was their Saturday outings. Sharon and Jim would take their children on adventures to yard sales, flea markets, and thrift stores, creating lasting memories of treasure hunting and quality time spent together. On Sunday mornings, Sharon also devoted her time to her faith as the nursery coordinator at their church, showing her dedication to both her family and her community.
Sharon's life was not limited to the home. She held various jobs, including working in housekeeping at several hotels in the Redding, California area and serving as a receptionist at a small pharmacy in Shasta Lake City. However, her talents extended far beyond her work life. Sharon possessed a unique gift for fixing things. She could repair vacuums, chairs, waterlines, and even cars with remarkable skill and determination.
After Jim's passing in 1992, Sharon found solace and fulfillment in her hobbies. She loved to sing karaoke on Friday nights, sharing her love for music with her family and friends. Sharon also discovered a passion for ceramics and pottery, creating everything from cookie jars to intricate figurines like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Her porcelain doll collection reflected her appreciation for craftsmanship and artistry, and she even tried her hand at making her own dolls in ceramics class.
Sharon was an adventurer at heart. She traveled across the United States, always dreaming of visiting the bustling streets of New York City and marveling at the grandeur of the city. Her journeys also took her to Hong Kong, where she collected mementos that she cherished and shared with her loved ones. Her stories of these travels were filled with wonder and amazement.
However, above all else, Sharon found her greatest joy in her grandchildren. She loved to color and play games with them, cherishing the moments of laughter and bonding. Her grandkids brought immense happiness and joy to her life, and it was one of her deepest wishes to be surrounded by her children and all her beloved grandchildren.
Today, as we bid farewell to Sharon, we remember her as a devoted wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother, a skilled handywoman, an adventurer, and a kind-hearted friend. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her memory will forever be cherished.
As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she led, the love she shared, and the indelible mark she left on all of us. Sharon Dungan's spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, reminding us of the power of love, family, and the simple joys of life.
May her soul rejoice in the presents of the Lord.
