Shirley Jean Swofford

Shirley Jean Swofford went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2017. She was an 18 year cancer survivor. She was born April 27, 1937 to Henry and Marie Keplinger, who preceded her in death. She was married to her high school sweetheart, William Hays Swofford on July 3, 1955, who also preceded her in death

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Murray (Dennis who preceded her in death), a son, Mark Swofford (Sharlyn), a sister, Linda Bronson (Bill), a brother, Phillip Keplinger (Teresa), Grandchildren, Crystal Findley (Josh), Adam Smith (Kristina), Wesley Swofford (Salena), Tonia Darlington, and 9 great grandchildren.

Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to go to the beach and hunt for agates and sea shells. Fishing and camping shared with her husband brought them great joy. She moved from Phoenix, Oregon to Blue Lake, California to join her husband after their marriage in 1955.

In 1979 they decided to build a home in Redding, California and she resided there with her family until she went home to heaven.

The service will be held at McDonald's Chapel, 1275 Continental Street, Redding, California. Please join us for her memorial celebration and reception on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 am.
