

He graduated in 1938 from Clinton High School then worked at a Publishing house that produced books for the Armed services during the war. He entered the Army during WWII and returned to the Publishing house for several more years. He had a long career in book bindery work and owned and operated the Hollywood Bindery. His wife and son worked alongside him until he retired in 1981.
Bill married Esther Louise Anderson on Feb 21, 1942. She passed away on October 5, 1989, in Redding, at the age of 65. They had been married for 47 years.
Bill served in the Army during WWII beginning in January 1943 and was stationed at Fort Devens in Massachusetts. He went to Fort McClellan in Alabama for basic training then served as a plotter for ships in Fort Monroe in Virginia. He was shipped out to the Panama Canal to Balboa on the Pacific side. He served there for 3 years.
After leaving their home in Massachusetts in 1951, Bill and Esther moved to California and lived in Inglewood, where he trained and worked as an aircraft mechanic in Burbank. After living in the San Fernando Valley they moved to Saugus (Santa Clarita Valley), Paradise, and Redding. Bill remained in Redding after Esther passed away where he lived from 1987. He shared the rest of his life with his partner, Helen Tucker.
Bill and Esther had one daughter, Sandi (Michael) and one son, Ralph (Christina). He had two grandchildren, Damien and Palmer and 3 great grandchildren, Mai, Kaya, and Teya.
Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church in Redding.
