

REYNOLDS, Charles Albert "Al," 78, of Varina, Va., went to with the Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Reynolds. He is survived by his mother, Bernice Johnson Reynolds; brother, Robert E. Reynolds; aunts, Marge Johnson and Lorraine Martin; cousins, Brad, Riley and Hiram Johnson, Lynwood Reynolds, Robert B. Purcell (Jean), Susan Baisden (Steve), Merry Dawn Donati (John), Sammy Martin, Harry Hawley; and many loving friends, especially, Carol T. Russell, Linda and Coleman Cooke, Cliff and Yvonne Fink, Sandra and John Spratley, Russ Tomlin, Susan and Roy Wood, John Folden and Melanie Taylor. A lifelong, dedicated career teacher, Al retired from Henrico Public Schools in 1994, after 37 years in the classroom with 32 years at Highland Springs Elementary School. A graduate of VCU in 1957, Al was also a wonderful theater director. He directed and produced a musical production every year he taught, involving the entire student body. Through the years, over 1,400 students enjoyed his classroom and over 2,600 were involved in his theatrical productions. Al was a great fan of all things "Disney" and many of his shows had a Disney theme. Al founded the Pleasant Street Players at Highland Springs Elementary School and produced yearly productions from 1962 to 1997. He attended Four Mile Creek Baptist Church. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 Laburnum Ave., on Thursday, December 26, from 2 to 4 p.m., and where a memorial service will be conducted on Friday, December 27, at 11 a.m.
