Crystal was born on January 21st, 1963 to Bobbie Jean Ellis and Walter Alvin Turner in Salisbury Maryland. After graduating from Manchester high school in 1981, she went on to study at Rappahannock Community College.
In 1981, she met Ransome Coy Collins II (Randy), and they wed in 1983, going on to have two children, Ransome Coy Collins III and Bobbie Jean Collins. When Crystal had Ransome, she decided to dedicate her life to being a mother. Crystal excelled at propping up her family and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Whether that was taking care of Randy through illness, transporting Ransome to travel soccer, or preparing Bobbie for her dance recitals she made it her mission to improve the lives of others. Crystal was passionate about plants, animals, and home improvement projects. When she wasn’t handling the day to day at home, she could be found in the garden, visiting with friends, or deeply entrenched in a project. We will miss her greatly and she made quite the imprint on our lives.
Crystal was predeceased by her husband Ransome Coy Collins II, her mother Bobbie Jean Ellis, and her father Walter Alvin Turner. She is survived by her son Ransome Coy Collins III (Tomalyn Collins), her daughter Bobbie Jean Collins (Benjamin Steelman), her two grandchildren, her siblings: Scott Turner, Roslyn Shively, Rose Turner, and Forest Ellis.
The family requests in lieu of flowers to donate to St. Jude’s as it was Crystal and Randy’s favorite charity.
There will be a celebration of life at 2:00 pm on May 24th, 2023 at Nelson Funeral Home,
4650 S. Laburnum Avenue Richmond, Virginia 23231.
