Nécrologie de Dana Brent Hanson
Dana Brent Hanson, of Highland Springs, VA, born on April 20, 1949, and succumbed to cancer on March 29, 2024, at the age of 74. Dana passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family at VCU Health, in Richmond, VA. Dana was predeceased by his parents, Margaret, and Ted Hanson, and is survived by his sister, Diane Hanson-Johnson (Gerald), his brother, Scott Hanson, and Moni Rot, his longtime partner, and a significant member of our family. Dana was the owner of the Hanson Agency, Inc. and a prominent figure and respected businessman in the Highland Springs, Va community. He served in the Navy during the Viet Nam conflict and was a member of the crew on the USS Forrestal and was an active member of the American Legion Post 144. It was during his time on the Forrestal that he developed his passion for the sport of table tennis. Dana not only became a formidable opponent on the courts, but also shared his passion for the sport as a mentor, a friend, and devoted endless hours advocating for and promoting the sport. Dana’s Memorial Service will be held on April 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231, with visitation on April 16 between 4-6 p.m. Internment will follow the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia (10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Dana Brent Hanson Memorial Fund (see link below) to help develop new players and continue his passion for the sport by providing funds to the Richmond Table Tennis Club. I can hear him in heaven now, as he picks up a ball and paddle (racket), “Who wants to get beat?!” Donations can be sent to the Memorial Fund via Zelle using [email protected] (Wells Fargo Bank)
