

David Lee Cheatham Sr., 83, of Varina, passed away on November 15, 2015. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Willis United Methodist Church where he served on many committees. David served honorably as a Corporal in the Army, fighting in the Korean War. He enjoyed camping, fellowship, traveling, baking and spending time with his family. David had a zest for life and a smile for everyone. He never met a stranger and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. David was preceded in death by his wife, Georgie Cheatham; sons, Ronnie and David Cheatham Jr.; and grandson, Ryan Vaughan. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Cheatham; daughters, Judy Vaughan (Andy), Sherry Cheatham; stepchildren, Gay Nell King, Kimberly Smith and Richard Butler Jr.; grandchildren, Chase, Chandler and Chaney Cheatham, Kristen Guynes and Tyler Vaughan; daughters-in-law, Tina Cheatham and Cyndi Wyatt Blake; and many loving family and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 17, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where a funeral service will be held the following day at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park.
