Dorothy T. Barden

BARDEN, Dorothy Elizabeth Tucker, 97, passed away on October 12, 2018. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was born in Richmond on February 16, 1921 to John and Helen Tucker. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Lee Barden Sr.; her three brothers, John, James and Leonard; two sisters, Edith and Juanita; and her daughter-in-law, Bonnie. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Jane Bass (Richard); son, Herbert Lee Barden Jr. (Vanessa); her sisters, Betty Brown and Mary Bevan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was also a loving "Gicky" to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her lively spirit, sense of humor and long life will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on October 16, 2018, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, with a one-hour visitation an hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service in Maury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Access Partnership (accesspartnership.org), a non-profit organization that helps people obtain dental care they could not otherwise afford.
