Elizabeth Kay Powell

POWELL, Elizabeth Kay,96, of Richmond, passed on March 6, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Margaret and Charles Fleming Kay, and the widow of Staff Sgt. Carroll A Edwards, U.S.A.F. She was preceded in death by daughter Dolores Noll Patton; and siblings, Margaret Ann Fox and Walter Fleming Kay. She is survived by her son, Donnell Edwards; granddaughters, Lyrae Patton Layne, Michelle Patton Hitchcock, Brooke Marie Edwards, and Kristin Marie Edwards; grandsons, Mark Warner Patton, and Brian Scott Edwards; great granddaughters Demi Elizabeth Hitchcock, and Arielle Elizabeth Patton; great grandsons Justen Layne, Zach Layne, and Jedidiah Patton; and her foster son, Stephen Wayne White. Mrs. Powell was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, United Methodist Family Services, Montrose Chapter Eastern Star #176. She was the past president at the Woman’s Club of Powhatan Hill. She was a volunteer and active in her community. Funeral services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home Laburnum at 1 pm Friday, March 11, 2016 with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
