

She was born on May 12th, 1938, to Roman and Flora Haley. She was the devoted wife of the late, Charles Jackson Cox for 1 month shy of 50 years. Remaining completely devoted to him for the last 23 years since he passed . Her exact words were , "Why would I want another when I've already had the best?"
She was a warm and loving Mother, sister, grandmother, and a nanny to many. She touched the lives of many with her gentle and kind-hearted nature. Her compassion and dedication were evident in every aspect of her life.
She is survived by her devoted children, Patricia Sinka, Cynthia Southern, and her husband of 42 years Kenny, Robert Cox and his wife of 41 years Crystal, and Tanya Stocks. She was the oldest sister to surviving siblings Roman Morris, Thetis Tomanovits, and Faye Truslow. She was preceded in death by three brothers Stanley Haley, Kenneth Haley, and Bobby Healey. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Shaun Sinka.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren; Shaun's twin sister Cameron (Marlon), Jeannie Southern, Jesse Southern (Kelsey), Trey Southern, Anthony Cox, Jordyn Lemaster (Micheal), Samantha Johnson (Corey), James Bailey, and Ashley Bailey. In addition God blessed her with 10 great-grandchildren in her lifetime; Lennon, Alayna, Luke, and soon to come, Baby Southern, Johnathan and Hailey Lemaster, Joshua Roberts, Jr., Kaelin and Kyleigh Yount, and Reasyn Bailey.
She worked as a fraud researcher at Bank of America, retiring after 28 years of service. Her idea of retiring was to open an in-home daycare for newborn to two year olds. The parents she encountered in those 20 plus years relied on her to provide a safe and loving environment, and she did this with great pride. In one capacity or another she dedicated her entire life to nurturing children, and this brought her extreme joy and fulfillment. Her passion for flowers and gardening were her outdoor therapy, and brought beauty for all to enjoy.
A visitation will be held on January 5, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Nelsen funeral home, located at 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the same location. A committal service will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Washington Memorial park, located at 6217 Memorial Drive, Sandston, VA 23150, where Flora will be laid to rest beside her beloved Charlie.
Her gentle spirit, as well as her huge, compassionate heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her children and grandchildren will miss the wonderful influence she was, her amazing home cooked meals, the warmest hugs anyone could want, and her example of complete selflessness.
We are confident that she is at rest now in the loving arms of Jesus and we are comforted by the fact that Corinthians 5:8 tells us that absent from the body is present with the Lord.
