F. J. Norton was born and raised in Albany, NY. He came from a food focused family who believed that talking about everyone’s day and the events of the world while sharing meals together was important in gaining a perspective of life. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Frank traveled the country working with chefs that were influential in shaping his vision of Modern American Cuisine. Frank helmed many of the country’s finest hotels and private clubs as Executive Chef, and after 20 years in the restaurant industry, he began fulfilling a childhood dream of becoming an author.
“Cut a chef and you find a poet. Every aspect of gastronomy—from planting, harvesting and raising livestock to cooking and eating—has inspired writers for centuries. Food is about memory, sex, joy, love, shame, longing, and loss. Poetry and food have long shared a nebulous relationship of nourishing the mind, body, and soul.”
