George graduated from J.R. Tucker High School and studied at William & Mary, becoming a member of the Queen's Guard. He earned a Bachelors of Science and the James D. Crump Prize in Mathematics from University of Richmond.
George joined the Army, becoming a Distinguished Graduate and Second Lieutenant while at Fort Benning; eventually moving to Fort Lee. George's love of science and mathematics led to his globe-trotting career as a Database Administrator. Instead of retiring, he founded an LLC.
An audiophile and bibliophile - his libraries were vast. An outdoorsman, snake charmer and sports fan; George's passion and generosity were clear through his activism and philanthropy.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Curt and Betty Latimer, and brother Michael Latimer. He is survived by his three children, Justin Latimer, Lareina Ockerman and Caitlin Latimer; six grandchildren; brothers Ken and Art Latimer; sister Irene Taylor; sister-in-law Suzanne Latimer; and his beloved snakes.
A celebration will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Virginia Herpetological Society or another organization in George's honor.
