Gladys Hazel Garrett

GARRETT, Gladys Hazel, 90, went home to be with her Lord April 1, 2019. She was born in Hopewell, Va., January 23, 1929, to parents, James Edward Garrett Sr. and Nannie Belle Turner Garrett, who preceded her in death. Two brothers, Thomas Nelson Garrett and James Edward Garrett Jr.; and four sisters, Dorothy Garrett Nichols, Virginia Garrett Steger, Jean Garrett Henry and Mildred Garrett Vaughan, also preceded her in death. Hazel was a resident at Central Virginia Training Center in Lynchburg, Va. She is survived by her loving sister, Patricia G. Dunaway Newton of Henrico; and many dear nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful child of God and will be missed dearly by her family and the staff at CVTC, who provided wonderful care for many years. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23231, followed by her funeral at 12 p.m. Interment will be in Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cancer Center of Virginia.
