Helga Pearce

Helga Frida Pearce, 77, was born October 18, 1935 in Heilbronn, Germany. She is a proud American citizen and patriot, serving the Army and the military people since 1955. From 1974 for many years after, she served the Army Community Service (ACS), Fort Lee, Virginia. She formed the ACS Fort Lee Financial Planning and Guidance Program, which served Fort Lee’s soldiers and their families in getting out of debt and how to manage finances to become financially independent. She established and operated a swimming program for handicapped children of Fort Lee. Her work involved hundreds of hours of work and planning. She was given many awards and commendations from General Officers commanding Fort Lee. She expired 5:30pm, July 30, 2013, her husband was present. She was escorted to Jesus by his angels. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John W. Pearce. Their son Steven Roderick Pearce resides in North Carolina. Her graveside celebration of life service will be held at Southlawn Memorial Park, Petersburg on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 1:00pm. All memorial contributions should be made to ACS Fort Lee. No flowers please.
