Herman Lanier Allen

Herman Lanier Allen, born January 19, 1924 in Richmond, VA, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Richmond Professional Institute (RPI now VCU) and retired as a transportation specialist with CSX Railroad. He was a member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist and was married in Richmond, VA on September 22, 1956. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II and was a Freemason and member of Thomas N. Davis Lodge No. 351. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton Overton and Mary Nelsen Allen; and a daughter, Carol Mae Allen. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elsie Smith Allen; daughter, Janet Allen James; son-in-law, Terry Michael James; and granddaughter, Olivia Nicole James all of Glen Allen, Virginia. There will be private graveside services at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia.
