When you lose someone you love you feel like you can’t go on without them sadly time doesn’t stop when you lose them but always remember even though you lose a love one one thing for sure is that we will see them soon because there isn’t time in heaven so remember to them that they will see you in a minute but to us it feels like a life time.  But it’s never goodbye it’s always see you later here or there or in the air. 

Howard Garrett that's what other people called him. Me and my sister called him papa, Papa how has it been three years already it doesn't feel real. We all feel like this is a nightmare but really we know that this is real life. I wish you were still here. 

( God saw you getting weary. He did what he thought best. He put his arms around you and said, " Come and rest." He opened up his golden gates on that heartbreaking day,  and with his arms around you, You gently slipped away. It broke our hearts to lose you . You did not go alone. A part of us went with you, the day God called you home)

Me and my family are going to be going  through  a lot over my spring break so I have so many friends here for me and family and the best boyfriend ever and also I know that papa is in a much better place now 😇❤️❤️❤️❤️

Howard Garrett was my sister and I papa at least we called him that I guess What I’m trying to say is papa would be so proud of how me and my sister are doing now p.s. miss you papa you better be being good.

Howard Garrett was my papa and he was also my best friend and I told him the before he passed away that it was ok for him to go home if he was ready. Because I would watch over his wife my nanny for him and it’s really hard for me because I would always come home from school and he would ask if I’d  behaved  And he always now when I had a bad day at school but he always now how to make me happy. He said. Hay is for horses  aren’t you glad your a jack a** lol. Love you papa miss. Rip

He was the nicest man you could have ever met and he was the most  funniest /amazing father. I could ever ask for. 

Howard was the funniest fellow, I remember many times he had us all in stitches. A fine man! Shirley, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort in God's amazing plan for each of us. Until we meet again ❤🙏

I'm the Chaplain with Encompass Hospice.  I always looked forward to visiting Howard and Shirley every Tuesday and Friday.  We shared coffee, our faith, funny stories, salty jokes (well, Howard told the salty jokes), and chapters from our lives.  We became incredibly close; it was such a privilege and an honor to be with the family hours after he changed address to his new Home.  He always wanted me to meet Pastor Mike ("the best preacher you'll ever hear")--and that happened one week ago today (3-30).  Howard knew what Easter meant, and he was so excited about my taking on a position as "Interim Pastoral Leader" for the next 8-12 weeks, preaching all three services, starting this Sunday.  We would tell each other "I love you" at the end of every visit, and we both knew--because of Jesus Christ and His resurrection victory over death--we would never had to say "Goodbye."  It was always, "See ya later--either here, or there, or in-the-air!"  Howard and his family will always hold a cherished "forever place" in my heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Daisy Garrett; 16 brothers and sisters; and granddaughter, Cassie Wilbur Call. Howard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Garrett; his children Troy Garrett (Tina), Wanda Wright (Richard), and Steve Garrett (Teresa); eight grandchildren, Desiree, Stephanie, Brandy, Camille, Rebekah, Emma, Brandon, and Austin; ten great-grandchildren, Daniel, Mckenzie, Bethany, Joseph, Natalie, Nichole, Ellie, Addie, Gabriel, and Matthew; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
