Hubert Williams

WILLIAMS, Rev. Hubert R., 91, of Varina, who went home to be with the Lord, August 31, 2013,was ushered in to heaven, surrounded by his children and grandchildren singing his favorite hymns. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Sue B. Williams. During his military service he met his wife at a USO dance in Newfoundland. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII, Korea, and achieved the rank of CWO3 with his final duty station in Okinawa during the Vietnam era. Mr. Williams was a branch manager for Wells Fargo in Pensacola, Fla. immediately after retirement. He later attended Atlantic Baptist Bible College where he received a degree in Theology and became an ordained minister. Rev. Williams went on to pastor New Hope Baptist Church in Harbor Grace, Newfoundland. He was a former member of West Florida Baptist Church in Milton, Fla. and more recently a member of Varina Baptist Church. He is survived by his children, Ann Liebert (Jerry), Danny R. Williams, Dale R. Williams (Debbie), and Karen R. Good (Steven); grandchildren, Tammy Scott, Bryan Liebert, Rebecca Skinner, Stacie Patel, Karena Turley, Stephanie Lazarou, Faith Albert and "Poppa's" beloved 19 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Nelsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond Va. 23231. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow in Washington Memorial Park.
