Ivy "Irish" E. Starke

STARKE, Ivy "Irish" Esther, 84, of Richmond, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 13, 2015 after a long illness. Her steadfast devotion to her family and firm belief in God gave her strength in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Ivy was preceded in death by her two infants, David and Ronald. She is survived by her dear husband of 65 years, George Melvin Starke; her five children, Laura "Sandy" White, Randy Starke, Diana Starke, Linda Boisseau and Carolyn Stargell; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; her dear friend, Ruth Tippett; and countless friends. Ivy was a true servant of God and shared His word and love with others at every chance. She was a long-time Sunday school teacher and member of Grove Avenue Baptist Church. She was a gifted artist, loved attending church and spending time with family and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Grove Avenue Baptist Church, 8701 Ridge Rd., Henrico, VA 23229; with funeral services immediately following at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
