Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lena & Frank Wood and Henry & Barbara Gray; four sisters; two brothers; and faithful friend, Wayne “Shortie” Englehart, whom he thought of as his brother.
Jerry is survived by his devoted daughter, Laurie Faulconer (John); son, Brandon Wood-Olmedo; grandchildren, Ryan Dillard, Grayson Olmedo (Taylor), Aiden Olmedo, Annabell Olmedo (Chas), affectionately known as “Wild Child.” Jerry also leaves to cherish his memory his forever best friend, Katherine Wood (Doug); brothers, Wayne Wood, Daniel Gray (Amy); sisters, Stacey Teas, Judy Gray, Wendy Gray, Rachel Harman (Lee); as well as a host of family and friends including a niece and nephew he helped raise, Kim McGirt (Kerry) and Ricky Level (Randa), who will miss him beyond measure.
Jerry was a talented man who enjoyed working with his hands and crafting things from wood. This talent led him to starting Woods Carpentry, which he owned and operated for over 25 years with the assistance of two faithful helpers, Junnie and David Gray, who also preceded him in death. Jerry enjoyed days on the water fishing when he had time, cold beer, working on lawn mowers with Shortie, and chasing deals at local yard sales.
Laurie’s enduring message to her father is “Dad, I know you have loved me as long as I have lived, but I have loved you my whole life.”
A private celebration of Jerry’s live will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Hemophilia Foundation.
