Mabel Madison Reed

REED, Mabel passed away on November 9, 2013. She was born Mabel Lee Madison on April 22, 1928 in Varina and was married to Frank Reed for 54 years. She is survived by her sister Gladys Gayle and husband Joseph; her brother Edward Madison, Jr. and wife Peggy, her sons Blake and Mark, Mark's husband Jerry Williams; grandchildren Amanda Renfroe and her husband Philip Renfroe; grandson Brandon Reed and great-grandson Wade Renfroe. Her career included jobs at Overnite Transportation, Crown Central Petroleum and Whitehead Draperies. She had a large garden that generously fed many friends and family every summer. She was an active member of her community and volunteered for many local organizations, including Baker Elementary School, the Auxiliary at the American Legion Post 233, Fort Lee Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the Women's Missionary Union. She also bowled for the Saturday Night Mixers. She will be remembered as loving, charitable, patient, cheerful and kind. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, 11/12, 4-8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home (4650 Laburnum Avenue) with a funeral service on Wednesday, 11/13, 11am at Fort Lee Baptist Church (2727 Charles City Road).
