

Maxine was a proud graduate of Central High School in Charlotte County, Virginia, and later attended Virginia Union University. She met and married the love of her life, Oliver Tee Harper of Chase City, Virginia and to this union was born her beloved daughter, Cheryl Candace Harper. Maxine and Oliver shared 20 years of marriage before his passing in 1976.
Maxine dedicated over 35 years of service to Dominion Energy, where she built a legacy of commitment and diligence. She was a woman of strength, resilience, and quiet love. She devoted much of her life to caring for those around her, especially her family. Her presence was steady, her spirit was gentle, and her impact will be felt for generations to come.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Cheryl Candace Harper; her granddaughter, Skylyn Tee Harper; her sister, Dorothy Dailey; her aunt, Martha Dailey; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Linda Mangum (Curtis), Margaret “Lois” Alexander, Cathy Harper, Darlene Dailey, Charles Harper (Rose), and Reginald Harper; her nieces, Tracey Smith and Twanda Smith; her nephews, Eric King and Marques Singleton; along with many cousins and a host of dear friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.
