

She was born on Jan. 27, 1933, in West Virginia to the late Henry and Lula Newman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Winnie Harris, Everett Newman, Pauline Murrell, Clinton Newman, Kathleen Blankenship, William Newman, Wallace Newman and Shirley Clark; as well as her former husband Robert Brodnax.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children Sharon (Doug) Macauley, Alan Brodnax and Deborah (Mark) Switzer; her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Caitlin (Zach) and Rilyn Riggins, Edward (Valerie) Elianna and Kruz Switzer, and Brendan (Rebekah) and Grayson Switzer.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Toni Newman and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy retired in 1989 from DMV after many years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, church work, spending times with friends and going to the BEACH!
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1:00 at Nelson’s Funeral Home-4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond 23231.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be given to her church, Highland Springs United Methodist- 22 N. Holly Ave., Highland Springs 23075.
