Pearl Doane Chapman

Chapman, Pearl Doane, age 93, of Mechanicsville, joyfully completed the broken circle of her entire family on July 7, 2015. She was born in Richmond on February 21, 1922 to the late Joseph William Doane and Josephine Pate Doane. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest D. Chapman, Sr., her sisters Danise Danner and Phyllis Gwaltney, and her brothers, Thomas A., Grover M., Joseph W., Jr., James E., Charles P., and George R. Doane. She is survived by her son Ernest D. Chapman, Jr. Special thanks are extended to Betty and Woodrow Johnson, Karen and Katie, Brenda and Ronald and Audrey and Betty Owensby. Her caregivers Janice Cure and Michelle Smith also gave her love and comfort. She was a lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church and she enjoyed a long retirement from the Wonder Bread Bakers. Pearl was a spirited but giving person and surrounded herself with her beloved pets for her entire life. She will be remembered as a touchstone for her large family. She will be missed. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 9 from 6-8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond VA 23231. Services will be held on Friday, July 10 at 9am in the Nelsen Chapel with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park.
