

Belsky, Phyllis Margaret, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 in Miami, Fla. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Charles Belsky; and her parents, David and Mary Saunders. Phyllis was born September 30, 1920 in Aberdare, Wales. She attended college in the United Kingdom and taught primary school in Bristol, England during WWII. There she volunteered for fire watch duty. During the battle of Britain, she observed and recorded an after-action report of an aerial combat. She met her husband in Bristol, while he was stationed there with the Army 654th Engineers. They were married in Bristol on March 15, 1944. Phyllis leaves behind her children, Margaret Pumphrey of Chapel Hill, N.C., Carol Greaser (Mike) of Mechanicsville, Va. and son, David Belsky (Gina) of Miami, Fla; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Idris, of Oxford, England; and several nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered for her ability to spread joy to others and her sincere devotion to God. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2013 at Corinth United Methodist Church, 23 W. Williamsburg Rd. Sandston, Va 23150, with a reception following.
