

He was the son of the late Raymond E. and Mary Wright Redford of Henrico. He was preceded in death by Barbara, his loving wife of 66 years; his beloved son, Ronald Redford (Mary); and his sister, June Redford Palmer.
Calvin is survived by his brother, Lloyd Earl Redford (Margaret) of Varina; and his three remaining children: Jim Redford of Henrico, Teri Norton (Jeff) of Tappahannock, and Wanda Hancock (Dennis) of Providence Forge. Pawpaw Calvin was blessed with 9 grandchildren: Sarah Redford Crocker, Rachael Redford, Niki Hancock Dunkum, C.J. Hancock (Amy), Cali Hancock (Michael), Jonathan Ayres (Ryane), Meghan Redford, Cameron Redford (Karlee), and Stephen Redford; 8 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Calvin spent his entire life living and working in the Richmond - Henrico area with the majority of his adult life in Varina. He was a proud member of the Henrico County Fire Department serving 28 years. Calvin began his fire fighting career as a volunteer in 1963 and became one of the first paid fire fighters in Henrico County hired in 1968. He retired as Assistant Fire Marshall in 1996.
Calvin loved watching, playing, and coaching baseball, hunting with his sons and grand-sons, and fishing anywhere he could drop a line. He always looked forward to “working the races” at RIR when NASCAR was in town. He loved good ‘ole country and Gospel music, and most of all he loved his family.
A viewing will be held on Monday, August 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. and the funeral service on Tuesday, August 5 at 12:00 p.m., both at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave, Henrico, VA. Services will conclude graveside at Washington Memorial Park.
