

TOMLIN, Robert "Buck" Tucker, 73, of Mechanicsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2016, surrounded by his friends and family. He was a retired millwright with Lucent Technologies and a member of Sandston Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. Buck served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class where he earned a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. He enjoyed building birdhouses, woodworking and traveling. Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Eugene Tomlin Sr. and Martha Garwood Tomlin; brothers, Scott, Gene, and Howard Tomlin; and son, Michael Blanton. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lynn Tomlin; children, Tessa Ludwig (Kurt) of West Point, Stephanie Bloomfield of Virginia Beach, Mark Blanton (Fran) of Sandston, Jennie Phipps (Scott) of Chester, Ross Tomlin (Amy) of Smithfield and Dana Brawley (Lonnie) of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Tucker, Tyler, Joshua, Austin, Amanda, E.J., Emily, Emmett, Ethan, Isabella, Jackson, Spenser, Sarah, Shannon, Sydni, Daniel and David; great-grandson, Jacob; sister, Janet Marshall (Elmo) of Churchview; and sisters-in-law, Mary Trevilian, Ann Renick, Shirley Tomlin, and Sharon Tomlin; and a host of extended family. Special thanks to Ava, Chaz and Pat for their care and compassion. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 23, at Sandston Baptist Church, 100 W. Williamsburg Rd., Sandston, Va. 23150. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sandston Baptist Church at www.sandstonbaptist.org.
