Robert Hunter Jones, 61, of Mechanicsville, departed this life on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Marvin Jones. Robert is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathy Wright Jones; daughter, Karah Lange Gunther (Geoff); son, Seth Hunter Jones; grandson, Easton Lange Gunther; brother, Frederick A. Jones (Susan); sister, Susan J. Murphy; as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. A graduate of Highland Springs High School, he later graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University. Baseball was his favorite youth pastime, a love of which he continued while playing at the high school and college levels. He was a lifelong hunting enthusiast. Most weekends he and Kathy spent entertaining family and friends at their second home on Gwynn’s Island. Having had a long business career with The Reciprocal Group, he later enjoyed success in home building and remodeling. Family will receive guests at Nelsen Funeral Home on Laburnum Avenue, beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Robert’s honor to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
