Shirley Anderson Hicks, “Miss Shirley,” 82, of Sandston passed away Friday, July 5, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude L. Hicks. Shirley was a retired little one’s caregiver at Almost Angels and previously was an employee of Thalhimers in downtown Richmond. She was a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church, a lifelong member of the Eastern Star and a silver sneakers member at the YMCA. She is survived by her three daughters, Claudia “Cookie” Hicks Cage, Cynthia “Cindy” Hicks Luck, and Juliet “Julie” Eleanor Hicks; and two granddaughters, Ashley Luck Hogue and Courtney Taylor Cage. You are welcome to join family and friends on Wednesday, July 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 11 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue Richmond, Va 23231. Please join us in the celebration of her life on Friday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
