Sidney Burcham Lowery

LOWERY, Sidney Burcham, 81, of Henrico, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017. She was born on May 28, 1935 in Crewe, Va. to the late Mary Stanley Burcham and Herman Sidney Burcham. Sidney was a longtime member and pianist at Varina Baptist Church. She had a love for traveling to places both near and far with her family and friends. Sidney was a kindergarten teacher for many years at Fellowship Christian School. She also worked for Richmond Memorial School of Nursing and Memorial Regional Medical Center, where she was an office assistant. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Horace Wilson Lowery of Henrico; sister, Evelyn T. Melton of Glen Allen; daughters, Dale Lowery Lawton of Manakin Sabot, Sharon Kay Lowery of Henrico and Mary Jo Burton of Virginia Beach; son, Steven Wilson Lowery of Richmond; and grandchildren, Jeremy Miller, Sara Lowery, Candace Lowery, Joshua Burton and Christopher Burton. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 21, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
