SMITH, JR., Thomas Henry, 70, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 7, 2019, after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Henry Smith, Sr. and Geraline Walker; and step parents, Charlie Walker and Betty Smith. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; son, Thomas III (Cicek); step brothers Taft, Wiley, Mike, and half-sister, Denise; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Earl Acors; niece, Tiffany Miller (Mark); nephew, Paul Acors (Pepa); great nieces, Morgan, Madeline and Sofia; great nephew, Ethan; and many cousins and loved ones. He was a Hermitage High School alum and earned a BA at Virginia Tech. Tommy served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Philip Morris, Capital One and retired from Dominion Virginia Power. He had a passion for cars and worked many years as a car salesman. Tommy was adventurous and liked to travel and cruise as well as spending time in the garden. His other passions were movies, eating out, watching HGTV, and woodworking. Tommy sang in the choir and was a deacon at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church. He was faithful, loved the Lord and was a kind and gentle man that was loved by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 16, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 17, at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church, 2950 New Market Road, Richmond, VA 23231. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
