

He was preceded in death by his son, Doug Carter; daughter, Terri Castlebury; and his sister, Faye Causway.
Troy was a lifelong Carpenter and had served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting. Family was the center of his life and he cherished time spent with each one of them, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Carol Carter; daughters, Joy Johnson (Dinky) and Melissa Eberhard (Butch); grandchildren, Chris Castlebury, Josh Castlebury, D.J. Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, Destiny Pullman, Carlie Carter and Troy Eberhard; a number of great-grandchildren; sister, Maggie Johnson; brother, Roy Carter; and a large circle of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends between 6 – 8pm, Monday, February 23 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23231, where a funeral service will be held 12pm, Tuesday, February 24. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
Though he is gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.
Troy Duane Carter will be laid to rest at Washington Memorial Park, Sandston.
